10,000BC – The Musical
Catalogue note
Imagine, if you will, that you are an artistic director in British cinema of the mid 1960s.
You have been working on a prehistoric musical for some years now, gathering together ideas, monsters, even some sort of plot, if one must. And then bang, along comes a movie called 10000BC. Not the musical one. And they have Raquel Welch and everything. Your musical project is abandoned, of course, but not before just one catchy tune for the intended trailer has been written. Alas, there is nothing that can be done with it.
But wait!
In what is now known as "the long tail" when it comes to film rights and reissues, you'll be delighted, I assume, to discover that some clips were found in a garage in the back of a garage in another garage.
The music was found intact, but luckily for us all, only a handful of clips were. Here then, is the trailer for the never released, or in fact made, 10000BC The Musical.
Should you wish to sing along, here are the words.
Oh you gotta shake your furs Cos there's nothing that is worse Than being eaten by a predatory creature
They'll eat you, they'll eat you, before they even greet you And their giant horrid teeth Will snap from underneath They're positively eager to unseat you
So skip along with me In this dark prehistory Make sure to come and watch the feature
