Cosmic Spork!

Children's / Television

Catalogue note

If you are of a certain age - and I am not - then your childhood might have included many an odd tv show import.

You might, however, have missed "Cosmic Spork!"

Its only redeeming feature, as far as the networks were concerned, was that it was extremely cheap, as Haikarate Studios were aiming to break into the foreign market at any cost.

Faced with competition from "Scooby Doo" and of course, "Josie and the Pussycats", the bar was high. Nonetheless, the idea of a gang of girls taking on evil, but occasionally allowing themselves to stray, seemed like a good idea at the time.

At that time plus just under one week, it didn't seem such a good idea any more.

All that remains, therefore, is this VHS grainy copy of the title sequence, found in a discarded cigar box in back street Tokyo.

Thank your lucky stars there is no more.
